Born and raised on the Canadian prairies, Sean is a former naval officer, lapsed palaeontologist, and aspiring novelist. He received a B.Sc. in Palaeobiology in 1995, an M.Sc. in Geological Sciences in 1999, and a Ph.D. in Geological Sciences from the University of Saskatchewan in 2005 and, although no longer employed in the field, he retains an abiding love for the chitinous, scaled, fanged, tentacled and multi-appendaged monstrosities that haunted Earth's distant past.
Sean is also an avid player and designer of roleplaying and adventure games and an obsessive collector and painter of miniature figures, and has been actively involved in both hobbies since 1980.
Sean lives in Winnipeg with his wife, daughter, and gluttonous cat, where he writes dark fantasy fiction, usually while listening to Dead Can Dance and drinking way too much coffee.
